Anne Firmender



Teaches Classical Ballet & Pointe Classes
for Children, Teens, & Adults at
The Dance Element dance studio in Wilmington NC.





​Originally from Stratford, CT, Anne Firmender has called Wilmington home since 1998.

She received Ballet & Dance training from several prestigious schools, including The School of American Ballet, California Institute of the Arts, & Cornish College of the Arts, where she received her BFA in Dance summa cum laude.

Anne has taught in public and private schools to students of all ages and backgrounds, sharing her passion for Ballet & Dance since 1982. Among her teaching residencies are New Haven Ballet, New Haven’s Performing Arts High School, Educational Center for the Arts (her alma mater,) and DREAMS of Wilmington, an arts education program serving impoverished youth. ​



In addition to her artistic background, Anne has many years of experience working with special needs youth, children on the autism spectrum, & those with mental health issues.





​Anne's outstanding choreography has been featured for innumerable benefits and community showcases at a wide range of venues.

As a founding member of The Dance Cooperative, where she served as School Director for many years, Anne organized two annual events: Community Dance Day and the Emerging Choreographers’ Showcase, for which she mentored multiple young dancers.​



"Miss Annie" has been a beloved member of The Dance Element's professional faculty since 2014, inspiring children, teens, & adults with challenging ballet classes & delighting our audience with her uniquely fun & beautiful performance numbers.
